How to find Inexpensive and Consistent Printer Ink.
You just bought a shiny new printer and you are so excited to open the box, set it up and run the test prints. It is so nice of the printer people(epson, hp, canon, dell(well maybe not dell)) to include your ink, one black cartridge and the color cartridge(s). And, YAY all the lines on the test page are present and accounted for! You can commence printing, and you do. In fact you print numerous times, successfully. After all of these wonderful masterpieces(or papers) are printed you run out of ink. NOOOO! When you bought your shiny new printer, probably on sale or with some wonderful rebate, they didn't have the printer ink nearby. You had no idea that the printer ink was so expensive until now...(tears of utter sadness). What choice do you have? There's something important awaiting printing at home. Unless you have a costco card AND one of the special models whose ink lives there you are relegated to buying EXPENSIVE brand name ink. I mean seriously they can't charge less for their ink? Where is all the cheap printer ink?
Well I was sick of this process. I own Epson printers because my professors told me they were the best scanners, printers, graphics producers, period. I learned the vicious printer ink cycle the hard way and came up with a game plan. I would research which brand had alternative cheap printer ink options on ebay and not buy the printer unless it had the ability to use cheaper ink. It takes a little more shopping and researching and also ruins the impulse of purchasing that shiny new printer on a whim, but it saved me muchos dolores in the long run of the life of my Epson printers. There are many options of cheap printer ink to buy on ebay and I have tried numerous versions and some work better then others, and some work much worse then others. I always buy them in bulk so if they don't work so well I have bad printing in bulk for awhile(cuz I mean really what is worse then running out of printer ink mid printing?) Abacus inks have worked well for me when printing. They always have my Epson cheap printer inks, the inks work consistently and print high quality on a variety of papers(and I have tried putting a ton of paper through my printer), currently trying to shove some cover stock in. My best advice for this conundrum is buying cheap printer ink, but only after you have researched your printer thoroughly. My mom was so excited when she got her canon on sale, but pissed because her ink is super expensive when my Epson printer ink is not. She is so jealous of my ability to purchase cheap printer ink :) Happy printing everyone!! And remember cheap printer ink requires that you clean the head on your printer a bit more often they you would usually do.
